Strength in nature.
Skill under pressure.

A proposed outdoor programme where men and women build fitness, self-defence, first-aid and fieldcraft skills, with the confidence to safeguard others.

Why we train

Prepared people.
Resilient communities.

Resilience is not only equipment and land. It is people who can stay composed, solve problems and act effectively when the situation demands it. Training should build capability, self-control and responsibility.

01

Strength

Physical fitness, endurance and confidence through consistent practice.

02

Judgment

Situational awareness, de-escalation, decision-making and restraint.

03

Protection

First aid, self-defence, emergency planning and helping people at risk.

04

Discipline

Responsibility, teamwork, safeguarding and training under qualified instructors.

Physical defence · civilian training

Train hard.
Think clearly.

Proposed training includes martial arts and boxing fundamentals, self-defence, controlled partner practice and the judgement to avoid unnecessary confrontation.

These activities would take place outdoors with experienced instructors and a focus on self-control, discipline, sound judgement and responsible conduct.

Fieldcraft & practical strength

Readiness begins
with doing.

Firewood, shelter maintenance, outdoor equipment, navigating rough ground, communication and looking after essential systems in changing conditions.

Fitness and self-defence belong alongside the everyday work of keeping a rural sanctuary functioning.

Readiness in practice

The right skills at the right moment.

Our proposed programme pairs strength and self-defence with the quieter but essential work of keeping people and systems safe.

01

Conditioning.

Strength, stamina, mobility, outdoor fitness, resilience and a sustainable training routine.

02

Martial arts.

Structured boxing or martial arts sessions, controlled sparring, personal boundaries and practical self-defence.

03

First response.

Recognised first-aid training, CPR, emergency communication and calm response to accidents.

04

Awareness.

Risk assessment, de-escalation, situational awareness and knowing when to withdraw or call for help.

05

Family safety.

Safeguarding, practical emergency plans and reliable support for children and vulnerable adults.

06

Teamwork.

Clear communication, accountability, shared responsibility and service to the wider community.

Outdoor first response

First aid where
life happens.

Medical emergencies do not wait for a classroom. We want to learn how to assess a situation, summon appropriate help, give first aid and support a casualty in the environments where we actually live and work.

The intention is practical, instructor-led training in woodland, rural and off-grid settings, with safe exercises, effective communication and recognised qualifications where appropriate.

Dignity for those who served

Never forget those who served Britain.

The generations who built communities, upheld traditions and served this country deserve dignity and meaningful support. That includes former service personnel who may face homelessness, isolation or financial hardship. Their sacrifice should never be forgotten.

The safety of women, children and vulnerable adults is central to our purpose too. We want future sanctuary members to be trained in safeguarding, first aid, responsible personal safety and practical assistance, and to build relationships with established veterans and support services. This is a goal for the developing project, not a claim that those services are already operating.

THE SANCTUARY PROJECT · TRAINING PHILOSOPHY

Where we stand today

Training is an ambition, not an operating programme.

The sanctuary has no training centre or training schedule yet. These are intended future activities that depend on suitable land, funding, qualified coaches, safeguarding and facilities.

These are proposed activities, not courses currently available. Any specialist training would be described clearly and assessed separately before being introduced.

From ambition to capability

Land first. A stronger community follows.

A proposed sanctuary grounded in heritage, independence, practical skills and disciplined service.
