Practical, phased and accountable

Land first.
Then the work begins.

A modest, incremental starting point: acquire the right site, establish only permitted uses, test systems and expand on evidence.

The first decision

The first asset is independence.

We begin with a well-chosen rural site: open ground, woodland if possible, water nearby, privacy, access and room to develop a self-reliant base.

We look beyond scenery: caravan access, land stability, flood risk, woodland, water, running costs and the site's realistic potential. Essential planning and environmental checks belong in the acquisition process.

We aim to buy wisely rather than inherit an expensive problem. A conditional purchase may help protect the project while feasibility is assessed.

Make the site work. Our first priority is finding land that can support the intended project, rather than letting a complicated development timetable consume the vision.
A deliberately modest beginning

Five phases. One coherent plan.

01 / Site acquisitionResearch sites, access, flood exposure, ecology, development potential and realistic purchase costs.
02 / Initial baseBegin with touring caravans where feasible, plus practical sanitation, water storage, power and equipment space.
03 / Living systemsTest solar, batteries, heating, food growing, water systems and communications; record reliability, cost and maintenance.
04 / Skills and educationIntroduce traditional craft workshops, practical training, engineering demonstrations and shared lessons.
05 / Wider serviceDevelop community resilience, first aid, physical readiness, family preparedness and veteran-engagement programmes.
Designed to grow organically

We don't need to build everything at once.

A touring caravan and practical outdoor workspace can teach us a great deal. The goal is to experiment, document costs and strengthen one capability at a time.

The enduring asset is not just land or buildings. It is the capability, independence and body of practical knowledge that grows from them.

Acquisition criteria

Beautiful. Practical. Defensible.

The ideal site needs to satisfy both the vision and the fundamentals of development.

01

Access.

Reliable vehicle and caravan access, with practical options throughout the year.

02

Environment.

Woodland care, biodiversity, clean water and a low-impact relationship with the landscape.

03

Feasibility.

A realistic route from bare land to a working site without tying funds up in unsuitable property.

The first milestone

Acquire with confidence.

Funding discussions begin with site feasibility, acquisition strategy, transparent ownership and realistic financial commitments.
